Born and raised in Chilliwack B.C. (Canada) into a wonderful family (father, mother, and four sisters), Rob has been a Christian and involved in music since his early teens. Though still based in Chilliwack, since 1987 he has been ministering full-time, travelling to over 20 different countries to date (including Romania, Russia, Germany, South Africa, and New Zealand) to share the Gospel and encourage believers.

As a singer/songwriter/missionary (or musicianary, as he refers to himself) he has ministered with many various church and mission groups, and organisations (including Luis Palau in Romania, YWAM, and YFC).

In regard to music, Rob accompanies himself on guitar and piano singing his own original songs, inspired by his own life experiences and walk with Christ. His style is best described as folk-rock, and is very adaptable to a variety of venues and age groups. He has several albums available in CD and cassettes.

I love what I do. It is, at the same time, the most fulfilling, exhilarating, difficult, frightening, rewarding, adventurous, gut-wrenching, lonely, and meaningful thing I've ever done. I have decided to pursue meaning, not happiness, in life, and I am convinced there is no greater meaning and no higher cause for one to live and die for, than to follow Christ and the call of God.

As sure as I am of anything, what I do is God's calling on my life. I am still full of flaws and struggle with many things, but I am pursuing God's call and I am still so amazed and honoured that He calls and chooses us.

I have been so blessed by friendships around the world, and by the love of family and friends back home, and with their support and prayers, I want to continue in my sojourn, following Christ wherever he leads me. - Rob (Sea Lion).

Why Sea Lion?

In South Africa where I have recently toured, there is a natural sanctuary for a colony of sea lions. Resting from their hunt for food and other marine activities, the sea lions emerge from the sea to bask on the rocks of this mountainous portion of coastline. The name of this place... Robberg, Africaans for Sea Lion of the Mountain.
